I
have created and gathered some great resources for
educators to use in teaching children about
cardiovascular health. It is important that children
begin making good choices regarding their health at a
very young age, and these materials target young
audiences through their design and content. I hope that
educators will benefit from the use of these resources
and, more importantly, that they will have an impact on
the lives of the students as they learn how to achieve
cardiovascular health.
You will see when you look at the materials that I have
correlated objectives to the Alabama Course of Study in
Health Education. To support the objectives, I have
presentations, word searches, crossword puzzles, and
some worksheets from the American Heart Association.
There are a multitude of worksheets on the American
Heart Association website if you need any additional
ideas. The resources included are as follows:
***Note:
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the Educator
Resource files. If you do not have the tool
installed, you may download it here.
Children's
Book
I have also written a book for children which is
currently being published. The name of the book is
The Quest for a Healthy Heart. This
book will explore cardiovascular health through a simple
message and will be a great teaching tool for children
of all ages. For more information on the book,
